THE COURSE

When Jeff Brauer designed Wild Horse Golf Club, he took advantage of the natural beauty. Covell Creek provides the backdrop and the local owls, rabbits and geese play their role with skill. The dramatic changes in elevation pair with the mature tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. Add to this a variety of natural and man-made obstacles, and most golfers find this course to be as challenging as it is beautiful.

Wild Horse Golf Course is 6,828 yards to the furthest of their five tees. It features a par of 72 and a rating of 63. The slope is 135.

Wild Hawk Golf Course has, since its opening in 1997, been well known as a beautiful, well maintained course. They offer a variety of tees, including a combo white/green set that offers golfers a shorter yardage on the longest tees. The course, designed by J. Michael Poellett, features soft rye grass greens and narrow, tree-lined fairways.

This 6,718 yard course is designed with every golfer in mind. With a par of 72, it has challenge for even the most experienced golfer. It features a rating of 71.4 and a slope of 126.

THE COURSE

The Whittier Narrows Golf Course combines three courses to make a variety of possibilities. Nestled in the San Gabriel valley and surrounded by mountain vistas, the beauty of the scenery is matched only by the challenge of the course. Each of the three courses has its own challenges.

The first course, known as the river course, is an executive 9 hole course that spans 3,389 yards. This course features a variety of water obstacles and long, narrow fairways. The par of this course is 36. It features a rating of 71.6 and a slope of 114.

The second course is a full 18 hole championship course. It is known as the Pine Course and spans 6,837 yards. It has a par of 72, a slope of 114 and a rating of 68.4. This course has an abundance of mature trees lining the fairways and undulating greens.

The third course, known as the mountain course, is named for its steep elevation changes. This course spans 6099 yards. It has a par of 71, a rating of 69.1 and a slope of 112.

THE COURSE

When David Rainville designed the golf course at Welk Resort San Diego Fountains, he kept the natural beauty of the area in mind. He utilized the existing trees and natural obstacles, added some man-made obstacles and created a course that keeps the beginner in mind while not boring their more seasoned counterparts. The signature 5th hole contains a long, narrow fairway and several challenging trees.

This course measures 3968 yards from the furthest tee. It has a par of 62 and a rating of 58.9. The slope is 102. The resort is also home to a smaller, nine hole course known as the Oaks Course. This course has a par of 27.

Set on Lake Hodges, The Vineyards at Escondido feature a variety of breath-taking views. It features acres of untouched wildlife preserve and flourishing grape vineyards. Between the wetlands, the mountain vistas and the five natural lakes, David Rainville could not have found a better template when he placed this amazing course. Orfila Vineyard and Winery in San Pasqual Valley is the quintessential Wine Country sight and this golf course is the cherry on top!

The scenery, however, has nothing on the actual course. This course features a variety of exact shots and narrow fairways. Many people rave about the signature third hole, a deceptively simple, 125 yard par 3 that is set over water. This 18 hole course features a par of 70. When Larry Norstrom designed the Van Buskirk Municipal Golf Course, he did so with walkability in mind. Located in the San Joaquin Valley, his 18 hole championship course sits on 214 acres of pure beauty. The rolling greens and tree lined fairways set this course apart but many people come back because of the friendly staff and amazing amenities.

This course features a par of 72. It spans 6,901 yards from the furthest tees and has a rating of 72.9. The slope is 123. The eighth hole is considered the signature hole. It features a long, tree lined fairway and water in two spots. This hole requires precision and does not forgive out of place shots.

If you are new to the game or just don?t feel like bringing your own clubs, they also offer club rental. These clubs feature the latest technology and brand names you have grown to trust. They are available in men?s, women?s and children?s sizes. Left and right handed clubs can be rented.

Dining

Whether you need a cup of coffee before you begin or a beer to end your day, the Café at Van Buskirk Municipal Golf Course has you covered. They offer a wide variety of café style options plus beer. Consider this your 19th hole and stop in for a couple drinks. If you need something on the course, cart service is widely available.

Practice Facilities

The practice facilities at Van Buskirk Municipal Golf Course are state of the art. They have a 15 lane, full grass driving range with a variety of target greens to help you work on your long game. For the short game, they have putting and chipping greens as well as practice bunkers. Novices and pros alike will take swings off their handicap here.

If even more instruction is needed, they also have PGA certified instructors on staff. Lessons are available in group and individual settings for golfers of all ages and abilities. Instructor Tony Troncale works to help golfers improve their skills no matter where they begin.

THE COURSE
