Penmar Municipal Golf Course is a regulation 9 hole course designed by David Kent and opened in 1962. Located near Venice Beach, Penmar offers a cool place for a round of golf on hot summer days. It is an old course that was once considered to be run down and fell on extremely hard times. It has since been completely transformed. Since it was built in the 1960s, when land was cheaper, the fairways and bunkers are some of the largest in the area.

This course is nestled between the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. It offers breath taking views that are hard to come by in Palm Desert. With a variety of tees at each hole, this course is sure to entertain and challenge you, no matter what your handicap is.

The course at Palm Desert Country Club is 6,400 yards to the longest tee and has a par of 72. The rating is a 72.9 and the slope is a 120. The back nine is considered, by many, to be both one of the most challenging and the most beautiful holes in the area.

THE COURSE

Pala Mesa Golf Resort features the best of both worlds, golf and luxury. With a championship 18 hole course covered in lush greens and nestled in the Temecula wine country the vistas of this course are sure to please you. With a variety of tees at each hole Pala Mesa accommodates golfers of all ages and abilities.

The Pala Mesa Golf Resort Course is 6,202 yards to the longest tee and has a par of 72. The rating is a 72.9 and the slope is a 127.

GREEN FEES

To relax on the links of Pala Mesa, book your tee time today. Tee times can be booked online, through the website, by phone or in person. Proper golf attire is required. Guest of Pala Mesa Resort play for free. For rates for non guest call the main office. Specials are available daily.

Pro Shop

The resort at Pala Mesa has a fully stocked pro shop. They strive to meet all of your apparel, accessory and equipment needs. They carry all of the brand names you trust at the best possible price. If you don’t see something you want, fee free to ask. If they don’t have it, the helpful staff will order it for you.

Restaurants

Forget typical golf food, the dining at Pala Mesa is second to none. They feature several restaurants and serve everything from sandwiches to sushi. Of course, cart service is also available.

The first restaurant, known as Aqua Terra, is quality food served fresh. Executive chef Sean Sullivan creates new and unique items daily to make even the most refined palate sing. With made to order sushi and live entertainment, this restaurant has something for everyone.

The second restaurant, known as the sandwedge snack shop may seem typical at first glance but it is not. Each and every creation recreates the typical and makes it extraordinary. All of their sandwiches are hand crafted. Local beer is also a feature of this restaurant.

PRACTICE FACILITY

Pala Mesa has a state of the art practice facility. Their driving range uses the most modern mats and an automatic teeing system to help you improve your long game. Several large putting and chipping greens are available to work on the short game.

If more help is needed, PGA professionals offer a variety of classes and lessons. Individual and group lessons as well as classes are offered. An eight week league, designed to improve skills, is regularly offered for both men and women. Classes, teaching putting and chipping skills as well as total golf skills, are also offered. THE COURSE

Old River Golf Course blends the best of both worlds. The front 9 consists of a links style course reminiscent of those in Scotland. In order to succeed on this half of the course you will need distance control. The back 9 of the course proves to test different skills. With water hazards, undulations and grass bunkers this half of the course is sure to test your short game and accuracy. Old River Golf Course has four sets of tees to add both variety and range to this course making it a great option for players of all abilities.

Designed by Lloyd Zastre and opened in 1999 Old River Golf Course blends the best of the past and the future. The course is 6,400 yards to the longest tee and has a par of 72. The rating is a 36.0 and the slope is a 123.

If you get hungry from a long day on the course, be sure to stop by the snack bar at the Old River Golf Course. They carry a wide variety of common golf course foods like hot dogs and sandwiches. If you get thirsty, they also carry soft drinks, bottled water, sports drinks and other beverages. Feel free to kick back with an ice cold beer. Cart service is also available.

PRACTICE FACILITY

If you want to take a few swings off your handicap, the practice facility is the perfect place for you. The driving range, which features state of the art mats and target greens, is the perfect place to work on your long game. For short game work, they have a large putting green. Chipping is allowed on both sides of the green and they also have a practice bunker. All of this should work to improve your game.
