First Time Coming to Pasadena, California – Did You Know?
YESTERDAY
The name Pasadena means, “Crown of the Valley”. An interesting fact about the city is that Pasadena has a sizeable, non-indigenous population of about five species of naturalized parrots living there. People are split on their response to these birds, some residents enjoy the birds as unique part of their city’s culture, yet others think them to be loud, annoying pests. Theories exist to explain the mystery of how the parrots ended up in Pasadena and claimed the area as their home. A popular story is says that they were part of the stock that were set free from the fire at large pet emporium at Simpson’s Garden Town on East Colorado Boulevard in 1959.
